Blanchfield defeated Rose Namajunas via unanimous decision (48-47, 48-47, 48-47) at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Edmonton.

Blanchfield was coming off a lopsided unanimous decision defeat to Manon Fiorot in her native New Jersey in late March. She got off to another terrible start here, dropping each of the first two rounds on all three scorecards before finding her way. Erin's striking is not a strength and it showed, as Namajunas won virtually all the stand-up exchanges between the two. Blanchfield was finally able to get her wrestling game going in Round 3 and it turned the tide of the fight. She dominated two of the final three rounds on the mat. Round 4 could have legitimately gone either way, but all three judges scored it for Erin and that ended up being the difference in the bout. The loss to Fiorot is a problem in terms of Blanchfield earning a title shot anytime soon, but she's always going to be in the conversation considering the division's shocking lack of depth.
